Jello Popcorn

Jello Popcorn

Hi Friends, It’s Katie from Made to be a Momma here again to share a fun kids snack! My kids love popcorn!  They get so excited when they hear the air popcorn machine going. They would probably eat it every day if I let them.  We decided to add a little something special to our popcorn recently and tried our hand at Jello popcorn and they loved it!  We used a watermelon jello packet and a lime jello packet but you can use whatever jello packets you want just make sure it’s not the sugar free kind.

  • 10 cups of popped popcorn
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup corn syrup
  • 1 package Jello  OR 1/2 package of two different kinds for multiple colors
  • ½ cup white sugar
 Instructions:
  1. Pop popcorn and place in a large bowl and set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add the corn syrup and stir until smooth. Mix in the Jello package and sugar. Bring the jello mixture to a boil and lower heat to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  2. Pour the jello mixture over the popcorn. Using a wooden spoon, mix the popcorn until all kernels are covered. Be careful as the mixture is hot.
  3. Spread the popcorn on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Bake at 250F  for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove popcorn from  the oven and carefully break the popcorn apart. The jello mixture will harden as it cools.  Place in air tight container for one week.

This popcorn would be great tied up in some clear baking bags as favors for birthday parties and other special occasions.
